Introducing Cazz - Bike It Better Cycling Coach

Training for the Otway Classic
Hi! I'm Cazz - a mad-keen cyclist and lover of all things bike!
I've been riding bikes for as long as I can remember, riding to primary school and exploring the local roads on weekends in Regional Victoria as a child, and then riding to University and work in Melbourne as an adult.
During the last 15 years I have sought to continually challenge myself and explore new opportunities in the world of cycling. I've raced my road bike in both criterium and road races, completed numerous recreational and challenge ride events, and spent a month riding (and driving the support van) around the Alps in France and Dolomites in Italy while volunteering for a cycle tour company. I have spent a bit of time racing and coaching track at DISC indoor velodrome, and raced a couple of seasons of Victorian and local Cyclocross, as well as using this bike to explore some lesser-known back roads and rail trails. My main passion though is Mountain Biking - I've explored numerous mountain bike parks near and far, including some interstate and overseas, and also raced MTB marathons, 3 and 6 hour and XCO events. I love the never-ending challenge that mountain biking presents, with an ongoing supply of new things to learn and ways to develop my skills; and love sharing my passion with other budding riders.
My interest in cycle coaching was sparked in late 2012 when I signed up as a ride leader for Cycling Victoria's Breeze Program - an initiative to get more women on bikes. As part of this program, I completed NCAS Level 1 AustCycle Teacher Accreditation training, and have been leading group and individual skills coaching sessions and social bunch rides ever since. Since then I have expanded my coaching accreditations and skillset, including CA Level 1 Road & Track and MTBA Level 1 Mountain Bike (now combined as AusCycling Development Instructor (Road & Track, CX, MTB); Bike Ed Instructor and Master Trainer; Bachelor of Exercise & Sport Science, and I am currently studying a Master of Exercise Physiology.
Throughout my cycling background I have gained a great deal of experience and knowledge on many aspects of cycling, including bike safety and handling skills, bike maintenance, the benefit of correctly-fitted bike, nutrition and hydration, group riding etiquette and safer road use.
Through Bike It Better Cycle Coaching, I aspire to draw on my passion and knowledge for cycling in a way that can help others take up cycling, become more confident riders, join in with group rides, take on new challenges, and experience the sense of satisfaction that achieving their goals can bring not only to cycling but to their everyday lives.
I hope to hear from you soon :)

The Bike it Better Approach to Cycle Coaching
Cazz's supportive and gentle nature shines through in her style of coaching. She will guide and challenge you with positive encouragement and enthusiasm, with the hope that you will also gain the confidence to push beyond your comfort zones outside of her sessions.
Cazz is a strong advocate for having a well-rounded fitness strategy and healthy lifestyle, and incorporating your cycling into your life in a way that is sustainable and enjoyable, while still achieving your goals. She will encourage you to consider bringing extra elements to your cycling training including strength and conditioning, stretching, and healthy eating. Cazz also believes in building a strong foundation of skills and techniques before building power and speed, and will often encourage her participants to brush up on their skills with her before (or in conjunction with) embarking on a training program.
While not exclusively offering cycle coaching for women, Cazz is passionate about getting more women and gender diverse folks on bikes, and hopes that her supportive approach to coaching will appeal to a diverse audience who are looking for something a little different to the 'boot camp' approach!
